Elphin Alumni 1996: April Showers

Elphin April Showers is a 1996 grey (born dark bay) mare, out of Aluinn dé Haoine. April was born in a particularly wet spring, hence the name. As a baby, she was the sweetest little thing, always curious and interested in her human friends. She was also a bit of a tomboy, growing up with three colt foals as playmates.

April was sold to Mary Yeager of Loughin Farm in Ohio, where she was started under saddle and has since pursued a career as a good broodmare.

Nello aged 2 in TX

"Nello" was sold to Texas in the fall of 2001 and kept entire until 2008. In November 2009, he placed 2nd in the advanced green division of the Green Cedars Horse Trials, Staunton, VA, with 14 year old rider Casey Lowe. Nello is intended as a pony for a granddaughter of Marynell Eyles, owner of his sire Windy Isles.

April's 2004 colt, Loughin's Journey, earned an ACPS certificate in eventing in 2008. He has hunted for two seasons in the first field, done hunter paces, hunter/jumper shows and schooled novice/training level eventing along with first level dressage.
