Irish is a 15.3hh, 1998 chestnut gelding by
Elphin Cronan, out of a TB mare called Christa Jewell. He is the third of
four full brothers and is owned by Vicki Davies of Salmon Arm, British Columbia.
According to Vicki:
"Christa's first foal is about 9 years old,
and he sold to Santa Rosa, California about a year ago. Her second foal is
6 yrs old and some people in my area own him. He is very cute, about 15.1hh,
but is more of a pony mover. He can jump anything though!!! Her last baby
is a yearling, and he is stunning. I can't wait to see him in a couple of
years."

Vicki says of Irish "He is super scopey, with a huge stride. 'Irish's' first competative season consisted of 6 events, 3 jumper shows and 2 dressage shows (one of which he got high percentage). He has amazing character. He has started to realize that those x-country fences aren't all that scary. He has never refused, but his eyes bug right out of his head! He's too curious to stop. My goal in a few years is to ride him for sure prelim, and hopefully intermediate."

As of 2007, Irish is co-owned by Glynis Schultz of Brentwood Bay, B.C, and Vicki Davies. Irish & Glynis finished 2nd in the BC eventing year end standings for sr. training level and competed in 2 prelim events.

From Vicki: "In 2009, Irish finished in 2nd place in the intermediate division at the event in Rainier, Washington. This is his 2nd time going intermediate, the first being Avalon last fall. Glynis said the x-country course was difficult with lots of ditches and trakehners. He was a super star and just ate it all up with no jump or time penalties. First place was Amy Tryon (Canadian Team member) riding Nicodemus, who is a seasoned horse at the intermediate level. The scoring was very close!!! Way to go Team Connemara!!!"

Schultz took fourth place in the CCI 2* division aboard Irish, her own 11-year-old Connemara Thoroughbred cross gelding. Standing in fourth place after dressage on a score of 54.3 penalty points, the pair performed a polished cross country performance which added no faults to their score. Despite one rail down for four faults in the show jumping test, the pair held their fourth place finishing on a final score of 58.3 pp.
